Pelham holds off Oak Mountain

The Oak Mountain Eagles pulled within one run in a critical Class 6A, Area 8 matchup, but the Pelham Panthers outscored the Eagles 3-2 in the last three innings to take a 9-6 victory.

Pelham (17-10, 5-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings, but Oak Mountain (17-15, 2-4) responded with six runs in the next two innings to trail 7-6 after five. Pelham added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to seal the win.

Chandler Clower pitched two and a third innings and allowed four runs on five hits with a strikeout and two walks in the loss. Heath Quinn went 2-for-4 with a home run and a RBI to lead the Eagles.

Jack Pierce pitched four innings in the win for Pelham and allowed four runs on three hits with six strikeouts and four walks. Sam Finnerty pitched three innings for the save with six strikeouts. Thomas Lowery went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
