Calera blanks Montevallo

The Calera Eagles softball team battled county-rival Montevallo for three innings before breaking the game open for a 10-0 victory April 24.

Calera (23-10-1) scored all 10 of its runs the last three innings.

Shelby Wright hit a 3-run home run in the fifth and finished 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs. Emily Sanders added a 1-for-3 performance with a triple and an RBI.

Sanders pitched Calera to the win allowing four hits in six scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Destiny Upton took the loss for Montevallo allowing six runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
