Alabaster’s Shelby Ridge and Rehab Select will be filled with glitz and glam on May 16, as the facility holds it annual Miss Shelby Ridge pageant.

Six Shelby Ridge residents will compete for the Miss Shelby Ridge title beginning at 2 p.m. Shelby Ridge is located atop a mountain behind Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

The winner of the Miss Shelby Ridge pageant will have a chance to enter the 2013 Miss Alabama Nursing Home Pageant, which is held annually at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover and features local nursing home pageant winners from across the state.

“We in Alabama are very fortunate to live in a state where people are interested in gaining a clearer insight into the lives and contributions of our long-term care residents,” Alabama Nursing Home Association Director of Communications John Matson wrote in a press release. “By holding events such as the Ms. Shelby Ridge Pageant, these residents can show others the love and positive attitude toward life in the long-term health care profession experience on a daily basis.”
