COLUMBIANA—The Columbiana United Methodist Church is hosting a golf tournament at Magnolia Meadows Golf Course on Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m. to raise funds for the church’s new playground.

The new playground will have a large slide, swings, and poured rubber for the ground covering, said Ali Payne, director of children’s ministries.

Registration for the tournament is $75 per person and $300 for a team.

“We wanted to think of new ways to raise money,” Payne said. “Everybody loves to play golf.”

Different levels of sponsorship are available. Sponsors for the tournament include at bronze for $200, silver for $300 or gold for $500. Individual hole sponsorships are available for families at $50 and businesses at $100.

“We have raised part of the money but still need about $20,000,” Payne said.

Construction has begun on the playground, and it is to be finished by Friday, June 21, Payne said.

The church supplied the money and needs to reimburse itself, Payne said.

“We used the rainy day fund so it could get done,” Payne said.

If interested in registering for or sponsoring the tournament, contact the church office at (205) 669-7164.
