Boy Scout Troop 404 and Oak Mountain State Park will celebrate America’s birthday with a pair of events on Thursday, July 4.

Troop 404, which currently is based at Pelham First Baptist Church, will hold its second annual flag retirement ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Pelham City Park pavilion. Pelham City Park is off U.S. 31 across from First Baptist Pelham.

During the ceremony, the scouts will properly retire and dispose of worn and unused American flags.

Also at 10 a.m. on July 4, Oak Mountain State Park will host a Fourth of July craft and flag-making event. The event will feature several patriotic-themed activities for children, and will be held at the park’s campground pavilion.

The event is free after admission to the park, which ranges from $1-3.
