INDIAN SPRINGS — Indian Springs has named a new town clerk — and she can be at Indian Springs Town Hall in minutes if needed.

Joan Downs, who lives only a couple of miles from the town hall, is the new clerk. The Indian Springs Town Council elected her Aug. 13, according to Mayor Brenda Bell–Guercio.

Downs won the position on the strength of her resume, which showcased her accounting skills, administration experience and computer skills, Bell-Guercio said.

“She has a lot of the skills that we need and experience, and is willing to come on board and get going,” Bell-Guercio said.

Downs will start her new job in the coming week.

Bell-Guercio said she expects Downs to step right into the void left by former town clerk Kelly Rasco.

“She’ll be an asset to our town and work well with our council members,” Bell-Guercio said. “She’s very organized. She’s very capable as an office manager. I think she’ll be able to take over and pick up the ball and run with it.”
