FOUR MILE – Shelby County sheriff’s deputies are still searching for a suspect in the Four Mile area who fled deputies in a white Ford truck Aug. 26. Deputies attempted to stop the truck because it had been reported stolen, according to Capt. Ken Burchfield with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies attempted to stop the truck near Meadow Crest Farm in Wilsonville at approximately 12:30 p.m. Aug. 26. The vehicle’s occupants fled, and eventually abandoned the vehicle along a power line somewhere between Shelby County 55 and Shelby County 61 in Four Mile, according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Burchfield said deputies notified the Shelby County Board of Education because of the timing of the situation.

“We had a suspect. We didn’t know if he was armed. We didn’t know if he was unarmed either. We knew school would be letting out, and we knew school buses would be running through that area. (It was the) best option for kids coming home and us looking for that person,” Burchfield said.

Citizens in the area should report any suspicious people or activities to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 669-4181 or by dialing 911.

Check back for updates as they become available.
