FROM STAFF REPORTS

On Thursday, Sept. 19, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Shelby Baptist Association, Shelby County Law Enforcement Chaplain’s Association and the First Baptist Church of Pelham will host a church safety conference at the First Baptist Church of Pelham’s annex building.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the annex, which is located at 2867 Pelham Parkway.

The event will focus on a wide range of security issues in local churches, as well as other topics covered by guest speakers. Church representatives are encouraged to attend but the public is welcome also. No reservations are required.

“Sheriff (Chris) Curry hopes this event will be the first in a series of similar conferences held in different locations around Shelby County with new topics covered each time,” read a Sheriff’s Office press release.
