FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Lady Legacy Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 14 at Timberline Golf Club in Calera.

All amateur ladies ages 18 and up, who are residents of Jefferson, Shelby, Walker, Blount, St. Clair or Tuscaloosa counties, are eligible to play in the tournament, and are encouraged to fill one of the available slots, according to a tournament press release.

The Lady Legacy Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization that awards a four-year in-state scholarship each spring to a deserving senior high school female.  Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academics, community service and an interest in golf. The tournament is the foundation’s only fundraiser, according to the release.

Students, parents and coaches interested in the tournament and the Foundation should visit the Foundation’s website at LBGALADYLEGACY.org for more information on the scholarships and grants. All females who are seniors in 2014 may apply for scholarships if they feel they meet the criteria.

To date the Foundation has committed $137,850 in scholarships, and more than $39,900 in grants since the Foundation’s inception 20 years ago.

Anyone interested in participating in the tournament, making a donation to the Scholarship Foundation, or gathering more information should contact Cathy Clayton at (205) 913-3265.
