COLUMBIANA — Shelby County will host a Free Landfill Day at the Shelby County Highway 70 Landfill from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 5.

The Shelby County Commission has designated a free day to dispose of yard and household debris in an effort to assist residents with their spring cleaning projects. The Shelby County Development Services-Landfill Division asks that residents cover and secure their loads while traveling to the landfill to prevent litter and trash from being deposited along roadways.

The free day is for Shelby County residents only. All commercial, business or out-of-town county customers will be charged the standard rates. All participants must be unloaded and exited by 3:30 p.m.

The Highway 70 Landfill is located at 401 Landfill Road between Columbiana and Calera. For more information, call (205) 669-3737.
