Weekend ATV crash kills Columbiana man

An all-terrain-vehicle crash south of Alabaster claimed the life of a Columbiana man on April 12, according to the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

Larry Hal Dyer Pierce Jr., 37, of Columbiana, was pronounced dead at the scene after an ATV he was riding left Shelby County 331 and overturned at about 11:20 p.m.

The wreck happened about six miles south of Alabaster on Shelby County 331, which is off Shelby County 26 between Alabaster and Columbiana.

Pierce was not wearing a helmet, according to a Department of Public Safety press release. As of April 14, Alabama State Troopers were still investigating the crash.
