WILSONVILLE—Representatives from the Alabama Secretary of State’s office will be at Wilsonville Town Hall, Monday, April 21 from 1 – 4:30 p.m., offering free voter ID pictures.

Beginning with the June 3 primary, Act 2011-673 requires an Alabama voter to have a specific type of photo identification at the polls in order to vote. Valid forms of identification include a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, Alabama photo voter ID, state issued ID, federal issued ID, U.S. passport, employee ID from the federal government, state of Alabama, county government, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state, a student or employee ID from a college or university in Alabama, a military ID or tribal ID.

If a voter does not possess any of these forms of ID, they are eligible to receive a free Alabama photo voter ID card.

“They’re looking for places to come and do this,” Kay Ray, Wilsonville town clerk, said of the state’s decision to come to Wilsonville. “It’s for people who don’t have a valid license or picture ID.”
