COLUMBIANA—The Shelby County Board of Education unanimously approved Dr. Kristi Sayers as the new principal for Oak Mountain High School during its May 15 meeting in Columbiana.

Sayers, who has over 25 years experience in education, served as assistant principal at Pelham High School before becoming the high school program area specialist for Shelby County Schools. Sayers is currently the professional development supervisor for Shelby County.

Sayers obtained a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Alabama, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Montevallo and an educational specialist degree and doctorate in educational leadership from UAB.

“This is my dream job,” Sayers told the board. “I will work tirelessly to make sure OMHS continues the excellence it is known for.”
