CALERA—Feed My Sheep, a food pantry run by Calera First United Methodist Church, will be distributing approximately 10,000 pounds of produce to the Shelby County community on May 22 at 10 a.m.

“We got the call Monday afternoon and thought ‘we can’t turn down this opportunity to get this food out in the community,’” Mark Lollar, worship and teaching pastor at the church said. “It’s a natural fit to serve the community this way. I believe it’s right in line with the mission of the church.”

The pantry, which serves approximately 200 clients, typically distributes 3,000 pounds of produce a month, so the influx of produce is “huge,” Lollar said.

“This is fresh produce, and we’ve got to move it. We want to get it out into the community as quickly as possible.”

The food pantry is located at 6107 Hwy 31 North in Calera. No paperwork or identification is needed to receive the produce.
