Car wreck results in fatality

CALERA—A single vehicle crash on Friday, May 23, resulted in the fatality of a Calera man.

Michael Eades, 29, was killed when his vehicle “left the roadway and struck a tree,” according to a news release from Sergeant Steve Jarrett of the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

Eades was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which occurred at 11:05 p.m. on Shelby County 54 in Pearidge.

Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.

According to Jarrett, Alabama State Troopers investigated three traffic fatalities during the Memorial Day holiday travel period, which began at 6 p.m. on May 23 and ended at midnight on May 26. None of the individuals killed were wearing a seat belt.
