Calera man charged with distributing heroin

CALERA—Kenneth Eugene Carter, 48, of Calera was arrested and charged with three counts of distribution of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Carter, who was arrested on May 27, did allegedly “sell, furnish, giveaway, deliver or distribute” heroin on the 300 block of Wooten Road in Alabaster on or about April 2, according to charging documents.

Carter was also charged with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing a “pipe, grinder and baggies” to be used for “smoking, processing and storing a controlled substance” on or about April 23, according to court documents.

Carter is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $451,000 and is set to appear before Judge Ronald Jackson.
