ALABASTER – The audience will be “laughing nonstop from start to finish” in the Thompson High School auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 2, as a Georgia hypnotist will hold a community show at the school, according to the THS theatre department.

The theatre department will welcome Alan Reyes for a pair of shows at the school – one of which will be held during the day for students and an evening show open to the community.

Reyes’ community show will begin at 7 p.m., and advance tickets are available for $5 by emailing THS theatre department director Jane Ganey at jane.ganey@alabastercityschools.org. Day-of tickets will be available at the door for $7 apiece too.

All proceeds from the show will benefit the THS theater department.

The Alan Reyes Comedy Hypnosis Show will feature “good, clean fun,” and audience members will be selected to participate through a raffle.

Reyes is a certified hypnotist from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute in Tarzana, Calif., and was trained to perform stage hypnosis in Las Vegas.

“Every person that has a desire may be hypnotized. It may be worth mentioning nobody is ever forced to participate on stage,” Reyes wrote in a THS press release. “The traditional hypnotic show in the past was humor at the expense of the audience members, but during my show I make the audience members the stars. I highlight and accentuate the talents and creativity of our volunteers.

We don’t embarrass them. I know that may disappoint a few people,” Reyes wrote. “I hope to see everyone at the show, and, oh yes, it is for real. If you have any doubts, join us and volunteer!”
