Montevallo accepting nominations for athletic Hall of Fame

MONTEVALLO– The University of Montevallo Athletic Department is now accepting nominations for the University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2015.

Nominations can be submitted online at http://montevallofalcons.com/Forms/Hall_of_Fame or in person at the University of Montevallo Athletic offices.

Candidates to be considered on the basis of undergraduate athletic achievement must have graduated from a four-year institution and have participated for a minimum of two years on at least one varsity team. Individuals who have not qualified for a degree, but left the University in good standing, may be nominated. Good standing is defined as a 2.0 GPA and not separated for disciplinary reasons.

Candidates must have also waited five years since completion of their athletic eligibility, have participated for a minimum of two years on at least one varsity team and have represented the University of Montevallo in a positive fashion both as an undergraduate and as an alumnus.

Coaches, administrators and special supporters of University of Montevallo athletics are also eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Service selection; if they have conducted themselves in a fashion such as to bring credit to Montevallo athletics for a minimum of five years and have a nomination submitted on their behalf detailing the special nature of their contributions to Montevallo athletics.

Current Athletic Department staff members must be employed for a minimum of 15 years before they are eligible to be considered for induction.

Respected University of Montevallo alumni who bring favor to their alma mater by achieving success in their area relating to athletics as alumni are eligible for induction consideration five years after their graduation, providing that the selection committee receives appropriate nominations detailing the candidate’s achievements as alumni.

Deceased contributors to the University of Montevallo are also eligible to be inducted posthumously into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

An athletic team shall be eligible for induction as a unit following a 10-year period. The induction of the team shall not prohibit the separate induction of one or more of its members. If a team is inducted, the Hall of Fame committee shall select a representative to accept the award.
