Charles L. Harper, age 86, died Dec. 21. Charles was born Jan. 8, 1928 in Gotebo, Oklahoma to Walter and Bessie Harper and lived his adult life in Bessemer and Calera.
He retired from Continental Can Co. His military service was with the First Marine Air Wing, Peiping, China.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June; his son Randy; his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his sister, Freda Doriety, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery. Nephew Ron Harper will officiate.
