BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Montevallo junior Brandon Farish finished fifth in the Samford University heptathlon, held Jan. 21-22 at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Farish, a transfer from Troy University, finished ahead of six NCAA Division I student-athletes in the event.

Farish excelled in the high jump competition, leading all participants in the event with a leap of 6 feet, 7.5 inches.

Farish recorded a distance of 29 feet, 9.5 inches in the shot put competition and finished with a mark of 10 feet, 3.5 inches in the pole vault competition. Farish finished with a jump measuring 21 feet, 6 inches in the long jump competition.

Farish registered a time of 7.31 seconds in the 60-meter dash and posted a time of 9.25 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Farish finished with a time of 3:00.90 in the 1,000-meter run.

Farish and his teammates will return to action Saturday, Jan. 24 at the UAB Green and Gold Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.
