COLUMBIANA–A large crowd of family, friends and colleagues gathered in the Shelby County Courthouse Courtroom No. 8 to celebrate the swearing in of Daniel Crowson as a Shelby County District Court Judge on Friday, Feb. 20.

The moment was made special because Daniel’s father and retired Shelby County Circuit Judge D. Al Crowson was the one who swore him in.

Daniel was surrounded by his family during the ceremony and has been looking forward to this day since winning the primary last June.

“I look forward to serving Shelby County and hopefully, if y’all see anything, please let me know,” said Daniel Crowson. “My door is always open and if I can do something I’m here. I’m very proud of this day and very proud that I have a father here that can swear me in.”

Daniel spent several minutes thanking everyone who made the day possible and his journey to becoming a Shelby County District Court Judge.

Al said he will enjoy the opportunity to be with his son.

“I’m really looking forward to serving on the bench, can y’all imagine with your own son and being able to do that?” said Al.

A reception followed Daniel’s swearing in ceremony, where many friends congratulated Daniel on his accomplishments.
