Shelby County, Alabaster, Pelham and Hoover City schools and offices will be closed due to the possibility of inclement weather on Thursday, March 5.

Indian Springs School will also be closed on March 5.

The Hoover-Shelby campus of Jefferson State Community College will also close at noon on March 5.

All athletic and after-school events have also been cancelled at Shelby County, Alabaster, Pelham and Hoover City schools, along with all Hoover City Schools extended day programs, for March 5.

The National Weather Service Birmingham has issued a freezing rain advisory from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 5 for possible “severe winter weather conditions,” including ice accumulation and sleet.
