Ronald Lee Byrd, age 73, of Montevallo, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18. He was born July 14, 1941.
Ronnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alabaster for 43 years and active with the children’s Sunday school classes. He served in the Army on active duty for two years and was a reservist an additional four years. He founded Byrd Contractors. He was a proud member of the Local Masonic Lodge.
Ronnie loved his family and was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Ann; daughter, Felicia; and brothers, Robert and J. C.
He is survived by his son, Gunnar Lee (Patty); his sister, Martha Hall and extended family, Mathew (Stefanie and daughter, Paislie) Staggs, Greg (Wendy and sons, Justin, Joe and Jake) Hall.  He will be missed by many others who fondly referred to him as “Big Byrd” or “Mr. Ronnie” too.
A visitation will be held Thursday, March 26 from 10-11:30 a.m., with funeral services to follow, both at First Baptist Church of Alabaster.
