HOOVER – The Ladies of North Lake hope to spread joy to others this Easter through their Baskets of Love.

Club members filled 58 Easter baskets with candy and trinkets to donate to Alabama Childhood Food Solutions in Sylacauga.

“You’d be surprised how many children in school go without food over the weekend,” Ladies of North Lake Vice President Malinda Molde said. “Easter is a joyous season, so we thought it would be (good) for the kids.”

Members brought their baskets to a monthly meeting on March 19 at the home of Adelene Tank.

The baskets were to be delivered the week of March 23 to Sylacauga for distribution.

Molde said this is the club’s first year to make Easter baskets for Alabama Childhood Food Solutions.

“We’re hoping this will grow into an annual thing, and that way it could spread around even more,” Molde said. “Everybody thought it would be a good thing to do.”

Club member Margaret Orlowski led the group in a Sips n Strokes-style program in which members painted Cahaba River lilies.
