Man charged with murder of Shelby woman

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office formally charged 34-year-old Russell Lee Williamson of Adamsville with capital murder and attempted murder on Thursday, March 26, after he allegedly shot a woman over an alleged debt he owed her.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Jodi Deann Fallowfield of Shelby.

According to a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office press release, in the early morning hours of March 24, Williamson met with Fallowfield and her boyfriend at a location along Shady Grove near Village Creek. The victim agreed to meet the suspect to collect a $10,000 debt the suspect owed the victim the release said.

Shortly after arriving at the meeting place, Williamson allegedly shot Fallowfield as she sat in the driver seat of her car. When the shooting erupted, the victim’s boyfriend, who was in the passenger seat, fled into nearby woods and waited until the suspect left the scene according to the release.

The boyfriend returned and drove Fallowfield to the hospital. The victim died from her injuries on the way. Deputies were called to the hospital and began an investigation just after 3 a.m.

The investigation revealed all three involved in this case have known each other for several years. The victim was the mother of a nine-year-old son.

Williamson remains in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
