PELHAM – Families looking to save money during the back-to-school shopping season this year can do so in Pelham.

The Pelham City Council approved at a May 4 meeting a resolution to participate in the 2015 “Back to School” Sales Tax Holiday in August.

Alabama will hold its 10th annual sales tax holiday starting at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 7 and ending at midnight on Aug. 9 to give shoppers the opportunity to buy certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales or use tax, according to the Alabama Department of Revenue.

Retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items that are legally tax-exempt during the Sales Tax Holiday.
