Frankie McEwen, age 91, of Pleasant Grove, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 3.
Frankie was born on October 18, 1923 and grew up in Fourmile. After moving to Birmingham, she was employed at US Steel in Fairfield and then served as a store manager for Dr. Scholl’s Shoe Company for many years.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, Eula and John Frank McEwen; brothers, Howard McEwen, Clyde McEwen, and Ralph McEwen; sisters, Thelma Ray and Evelyn Hall; nephew, Charles McEwen; and her life-long friends, Winnie and Will Reed.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Charlyn Jackson (Harold), Diane Ray Armstrong, Janet Locks (Kenneth), Frank McEwen, Sr. (Helen), Kathy Rayfield (Preston), Susan McIntosh (John), Bill McEwen (Andra), Carolyn Moore (Stephen), Ann McEwen Purdy, Mackie Ray (Anita), James Hall, Jr. (Susan), and Allen Ray (Darlene); sister-in-law, Peggy McEwen; many great-nieces and nephews; and by her caregiver and friend, whom she thought of as her daughter, Sherron Bearden.
The family will host a visitation at Wilsonville Baptist Church on Monday, July 6, at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Wilsonville City Cemetery.
