Montevallo has 55 student athletes earn D2ADA academic honors

MONTEVALLO– The Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2ADA) announced the recipients of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards for 2014-15 on Thursday, Aug. 13.  This award recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.

This year featured a record number of recipients that were being honored for their academic achievement with 7,320 student-athletes being recognized.

The University of Montevallo had 55 student athletes receive the honor, the most in the Peach Belt Conference.

“This is a great honor for our student-athletes,” stated Mark Richard, University of Montevallo Athletic Director.  “Our students take academics just as serious as they do athletics and this award is proof of that.”

To be eligible for this award a student-athlete must have completed two years of college level work and be an active member of an intercollegiate team during the last academic year.  Along with these requirements the student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
