Westminster, Thompson co-host swim meet

PELHAM – Thompson and Westminster School at Oak Mountain co-hosted a swim meet at the Pelham YMCA on Oct. 1. The Warriors and Knights welcomed Prattville Christian Academy as the third school to take part in the meet.

The Knights only competed against Prattville Christian in the boys meet, as Thompson did not bring a boys team, and beat visiting PCA by a score of 80-17. The Lady Knights also were the top finishing team on the day with 67, followed by Thompson with 52 and Prattville Christian with 21.

Westminster and Thompson both had a number of impressive individual performances on the day. Sarah Stephenson was first in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke and was the top girl competitor for Westminster. Campbell Lemons finished first in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle and was the top boys competitor while Cole Callahan brought home  first place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke and a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.

Thompson’s Katharine Mandy was first in the 100-yard backstroke and second in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle while Clea Kate Parton was first in the 200-yard freestyle and third in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle as well.
