HELENA–On Tuesday, Oct. 6 the Helena Business Association began warning businesses of a possible scam happening in the area.

There was initially some confusion and Helena High School has issued a statement clearing up some of the facts.

The statement read, “It has recently been brought to the attention of Helena High School administration that there has been some confusion in the community regarding sponsorship solicitations from a company, Touchdown Sports, based in Texas.”

A Facebook post from the Helena Police Department indicated that Touchdown Sports, soliciting donations on behalf of Helena High School, was a scam and for businesses to not make any financial donations.

Upon a review by the local school, it was determined that the company did not acquire permission from the school principal to solicit funding. Further, there was no contractual agreement between Touchdown Sports and HHS.

While Touchdown Sports is a legitimate company, there is no agreement between the company and the school to raise money.

The company has been contacted and will cease its fundraising efforts in the Helena community.

Please be advised that any fundraising should always come from a representative for the school directly and not an independent vendor indicating that they represent the school.
