NORTH SHELBY—Briarwood Christian School recently underwent a dual accreditation process, receiving accreditation from both AdvancED and ACSI and exemplary status from ACSI.

“We are honored to be awarded dual accreditation by AdvancED and ACSI and exemplary status by ACSI,” Briarwood Superintendent Dr. Barrett Mosbacker wrote in a news release. “This is a remarkable achievement reflecting God’s blessings, the support of our parents and the professionalism and dedication of our outstanding teachers and staff who provide a world-class, Christian education for our students.”

AdvancED has a network of 32,000 public and private schools in the United States and around the world. ACSI serves more than 24,000 schools in over 100 countries.

Both accrediting bodies issued scores based on comprehensive sets of indicators and criteria, including the impact of teaching and learning on student performance, the leadership capacity to govern and the use of resources and data to support and optimize learning.

According to the accreditation team, Briarwood’s score placed the school among the highest scoring in the country.

Since 1964, Briarwood has been committed to providing an excellent education within a Christ-centered environment. The academic program is comprehensive, college preparatory and taught within a Christian framework.

Briarwood is the largest private school in the state of Alabama and one of the largest Christian schools in the United States.
