NEW ORLEANS, La. – Julia Marquardt, the University of Montevallo Associate Head Coach for cross country and track and field, has been named the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Coach of the Year in women’s cross country by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Marquardt will be on the ballot for the NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year, which will be announced following the National Championship later this month.

Marquardt, in her third season guiding the Montevallo program, led the nationally-ranked Falcons to a decisive win in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championship for their second consecutive region title. Montevallo was just as dominant in winning the Peach Belt Conference as the Falcons captured their second consecutive conference title.

The Falcons, who are ranked No. 19 in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division II poll, will return to action in the NCAA Division II National Championship in Joplin, Missouri. The women’s 6K race in the National Championship is scheduled for 10 a.m.
