AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Montevallo senior Rebekah Phelps and sophomore Kristy Bohan were selected first team All-Peach Belt Conference, while senior teammate Briana Marquez was named second team All-Conference and was named the co-Setter of the Year in the conference at the postseason awards banquet Friday, Nov. 20.

Phelps was also named the Peach Belt Conference Elite 15 Award winner for the third year in a row for owning the highest academic profile in the conference among volleyball student-athletes.

Bohan, a Huntsville native, earned her first All-Conference selection after leading the Peach Belt Conference with 418 total kills during the regular season and finished the regular season ranked second in the conference with an average of 3.51 kills per set.

Phelps was named an All-Conference selection for the second year in a row. Phelps finished third on the team with 295 kills while averaging 2.42 kills per set. Phelps was also third on the team with 363 digs while averaging 2.98 digs per set. She also led the Falcons with 48 service aces this season. The Huntsville native owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as an elementary education major.

Marquez was third in the Peach Belt Conference in assists per set and offered up her 1,000th of the season in the Falcons’ 3-2 setback against Lander in the conference tournament quarterfinals Tuesday, giving her a team-high 1,047 on the season.  A senior from Channahon, Ill., Marquez was also third in the conference with an average of 0.43 service aces per set after recording 45 service aces this season. Marquez also recorded 242 digs and finished with an average of 2.25 digs per set.

A two-time Peach Belt Conference Specialist of the Week during the season, Marquez had a conference-high 64 assists in a Oct. 17 win over Francis Marion, which is tied for the 16th most in a match in all of NCAA Division II this season.

Marquez is the second Montevallo player to receive Setter of the Year honors, joining Anna Garrison who won the award in 2010.
