Accident causes lane closures on U.S. 280

CHELSEA— An accident on U.S. 280 near Essex Drive has closed all but one of the westbound lanes, according to a Dec. 1 report.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. Dec. 1, and the report states that Shelby County deputies are working to clear the scene. As a result of the motor vehicle accident, one of the westbound lanes on U.S. 280 will be closed for “an indefinite period of time.”
The Sheriff’s Office is requesting everyone use an alternate route in this area, if possible, until the accident scene has been cleared. If travel near the accident is necessary, deputies advise using extreme caution.
