All work was selected for displaying both a mastery of medium and a spirit of unconventional exploration.

Opening exhibit reception March 4 from 6–8:30 p.m.

Live music and food and wine. Featured during the reception will be a video instillation by Nathan Harper accompanied by local Montevallo musician Joel Nelson.

The concept of the gallery exhibit is based on the College of Art and Sciences belief that “Unconventional wisdom is an essential building block of the 21st-century creative workforce drives what we do and how we do it in the College of Fine Arts. We prepare our students to become the next generation of visual artists, performers, musicians, arts educators and communication specialists.”

Nathan Harper has served as the Falcon Scholar Intern of the University of Montevallo for the past two years.

Originally from Florence, he is in his junior year working on a degree in fine arts with a concentration in drawing and new media.

Nathan aspires to continue in the art field as an art educator. His time with the Shelby County Arts Council has provided him essential experience in the operational arena of gallery exhibits, class facilitation and event planning.

The public is invited to attend this free event. Enjoy a refreshment from Lewis Lakes Wine and the Partners for the Arts.

This exhibit is sponsored in part by the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

The Shelby County Arts Council is located at 104 Mildred Street in Columbiana.
