SYLACAUGA– Tiara Pennington, a 17-year-old junior at Helena High School, was crowned Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen 2016, at B.B. Comer Memorial High School auditorium on Sunday, March 6.

Pennington was preliminary talent winner with her vocal performance “Patriotic Medley;” preliminary evening gown/onstage winner and was the $500 Community Service Award recipient.

Pennington received a total of $186,780 in scholarships, including a four-year renewable full tuition scholarship to Auburn University, the University of Montevallo, Troy University, Jacksonville State University, The University of Alabama, a one-year renewable tuition scholarship to Wallace State Community College and a $5,000 cash scholarship. She will represent Alabama at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Fla. in August.

First runner-up was Jessica Baeder, a student at Auburn High School. She received a $1,000 cash scholarship, an $8,000 Auburn University Scholarship, an $8,000 stipend to The University of Alabama and a scholarship worth $14,000 to the University of Montevallo Scholarship. Baeder received a total of $30,000 in scholarships.

Second runner-up was Charity Bowden of Hooper Academy. She received a $750 cash scholarship, an $8,000 scholarship to Auburn University, an $8,000 stipend to The University of Alabama and a $14,000 scholarship to the University of Montevallo Scholarship.

Bowden received a total of $30,000 in scholarships.

Third runner-up was Brooke Edwards, a junior at Cullman High School. She received a $500 cash scholarship, an $8,000 scholarship to Auburn University, an $8,000 stipend to The University of Alabama, a $14,000 scholarship to the University of Montevallo Scholarship, a $2,000 Auburn University Achievement Scholarship and Troy University Chancellor’s Scholarship worth $32,000 over four years.

Edwards received a total of $66,700 in scholarships.

Fourth runner-up was Lindsay Fincher, a student at Handley High School. She received a $300 cash scholarship, an $8,000 scholarship to Auburn University, an $8,000 stipend to The University of Alabama, a $14,000 scholarship to the University of Montevallo Scholarship, an Auburn University Achievement Scholarship worth $32,000 for four years and a Troy University Millenium Scholarship worth $64,000.

Fincher received a total of $92,000 in scholarships.

Top ten semifinalists included Caitlyn McTier of Sylacauga, Annie Ozment of Childersburg, Katie Zeigler of Smiths Station, Kyra Callens of Birmingham and Katelyn Richard of Hoover. Each received a $100 cash scholarship.

Auburn University’s Achievement Scholarship worth $2,000 for four years was presented to Taylor Grace Eustice, Caitlyn Evatt, Reagan Handley and Richard.

The Spirit of Auburn University Scholarship worth $16,000 for four years was presented to Ada Ruth Huntley.

The Auburn University Scholarship in the amount of $32,000 was presented to Alyssa Niblett.

Troy University Chancellor’s Scholarship worth $32,000 over four years was presented to Huntley, Handley, and Richard.

The Troy University Millenium Scholarship worth $64,000 including full tuition, room and board was presented to Niblett.

The Dressing Room Mom’s $100 Scholarship was presented to Merrill Ann Culverhouse and Emma Owen.

The Jackie O’Neal Inkind Dance Scholarship was presented to Blakely Channell; Exclusively Ballet Inkind Scholarship to Zoe Champion; Point Arts Dance Inkind Scholarship, Callens; and Birmingham Dance Inkind Scholarship to Sydney Slaughter.

Most Photogenic award and a $100 cash scholarship went to Graci Pennington; Most Advertisements Sold Award and $500 cash scholarship, Alexia Williams; Children’s Miracle Network Scholarship, $500, Madison Ward; Miss Congeniality award and $200 cash scholarship, Handley; and Highest Academic Award and a $500 cash scholarship, four-year renewable full tuition scholarship to The University of Alabama, four-year renewable full tuition scholarship to Auburn University, and four-year renewable full tuition scholarship to the University of Montevallo to Niblett.

Niblett received a total of $174,412 in scholarships.
