Local pastor dies after battling cancer

HOOVER—The Church of the Highlands community is mourning the loss of well-liked Greystone Campus Pastor Keith Lindsey. Lindsey passed away on April 7 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Church of the Highlands Senior Pastor Chris Hodges announced the news on his Instagram account in the evening on April 7.

“Pastor Keith was an incredible man whose legacy of love for God and people will continue to impact generations to come through every one of us who had the honor of knowing him,” Hodges’ Instagram post read.

Hodges also posted the notification on the Church of the Highlands Facebook page. As of April 8, the post had garnered nearly 400 comments and more than 1,200 shares.

Many commenters noted the positive impact Lindsey had on their lives.

“Keith Lindsey was one of the greatest men I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing,” Dana Withers Gayheart wrote in a comment on the Church of the Highlands Facebook page. “The legacy that he leaves behind is one of strong faith and genuine, whole-hearted love for Jesus.”

Tanya Counts echoed Gayheart’s sentiment.

“Such an amazing man of God who has left an unbelievable legacy,” Counts wrote. “Prayers for each of you – we love y’all dearly!”

Lindsey is survived by his wife, Debbie; son Blake, wife Lindsey; son Blaine, wife Lauren; and his grandchildren.

A celebration of Lindsey’s life will be held at the Church of the Highlands Grants Mill Campus at 6 p.m. on April 9 after visitation at 5 p.m.
