Bennie Joe Smith, age 75, of Montgomery, passed away Saturday, April 16 in Calera.

He was born in Coosa County on Nov. 17, 1940, the son of the late John Smith and the late Ollie Hallmin Smith. He was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by his daughters, Shari Foster of Calera, Lisa Edwards of Harpersville, and Vicky Barreras of Calera; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Benjamin Castleberry of Montgomery; sisters, Debra Austin of Wetumpka, Pauline Ingle of Wetumpka; and Tracy Johnson of Montgomery.

In accordance with Mr. Smith’s request, he will be cremated and his ashes scattered in a private service in Wetumpka.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.
