Oak Mountain State Park is home to the Oak Mountain BMX Track, Alabama’s oldest continually running track.

The track was established in 1979 inside Oak Mountain State Park. Children of all ages enjoy the track.

The Oak Mountain BMX Track is a great place for riders age 2 and up to learn the sport.

Oak Mountain BMX is open every day of the week, as long as the track isn’t wet and muddy or there is a race taking place.

Is your child interested in BMX? Just come out on a scheduled race day and watch and learn.

The BMX family is always willing to help inform anyone who has a question.

Plus, after the race has completed, the track is open for anyone to ride.

This is a perfect time to ride a groomed track and follow some of the racers around the course to get the hang of things.

Best part, your first race is free! Yes, free! All you need is your bike, long pants, long sleeves, a helmet and a smile.

We will even provide the numberplate (although it may be a paper plate with your number in Sharpie).

Located next to the BMX track is a Pump Track, a unique biking feature to test your skills.

If you prefer to leisurely trek the mountain bike trails, there are plenty.

With over 30 miles of trails, there is sure to be one to fit your needs and skill level. We have a family trail located near the South Trailhead on Terrace Drive, so that everyone can enjoy a nice bike ride. Remember that it is a good idea for everyone to have a helmet on when riding the trails and roads at Oak Mountain State Park. Rocks and roots have been known to jump out at you.

Please remember that you keep Alabama State Parks open by visiting them. Thank you for your support.
