HELENA–One step inside Helena Family Pharmacy and you are instantly reminded of that old, hometown pharmacy feel where individual care and a patient’s well being is the ultimate priority.

This is the goal for Helena Family Pharmacy, which celebrated their grand opening at 1915 Shelby County 58 on Monday, Oct 3.

The pharmacy currently has two people on staff and will look to grow as soon as more customers begin bringing more business to the store.

Allison Powers, who serves as the pharmacist in charge at Helena Family Pharmacy, is a longtime Shelby County resident and believes the hometown feel of HFP is what will set it apart from other pharmacies in the area.

“We are now the only independently owned pharmacy in Helena,” said Powers. “I think being in Helena it will be different from a retail chain pharmacy. Our goal is to get to know patients and names on a personal level and be like an old-time pharmacy. Just being a smaller pharmacy you can spend more time with patients and it will allow us to counsel them on their health.”

Powers earned her bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences as well as her doctor of pharmacy from Auburn University.

Helena Family Pharmacy accepts all major insurances and offers an ordering system that allows patients orders to be filled and ready the next day.

The pharmacy also features an easily accessible drive thru and numerous over the counter medications for sale as an added convenience for customers.

Helena Family Pharmacy is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The pharmacy can be reached at 624-2001.
