Long-time resident of Grove City, Ohio and Shelby County, Alabama native, Connie Sue (Draper) Johnson, age 71, died shortly after arriving at the Wexner Heritage Village’s Zusman Hospice on Saturday, March 4 after a long battle with COPD. She was born on March 20, 1945.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Kristen Romans (Shane); son, Brian Blalock (Marjorie) and four grandchildren, Corinne, Wesley, Luke, and Scarlett. Also surviving Connie is her brother, Tommy Draper (Lillian) of Montevallo; sister-in-law, Sandra Mitchell Draper of Alabaster, and sister-in-law, Patti Shafer (Glenn) of Columbus, Ohio; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and long-time friends, many of whom she has known since childhood.

Connie was the widow of Richard L. Johnson and daughter of the late Robert L. and Elsie (Burgin) Draper of Montevallo. Preceding Connie in death was her brother, Rob D. Draper and sister, Nancy D. Long.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 18 at 3 p.m. at the Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus Street, Grove City, Ohio, and also at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 374 Highway 24 in Montevallo, on Saturday, April 1 at 10 a.m. for friends and family.

Connie’s family wishes to thank the many dedicated nurses, residents and physicians at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for their support and care of Connie over the past two weeks.
