FROM STAFF REPORTS

PELHAM – Pelham will soon welcome KidsStreet Urgent Care, a new pediatric after-hours clinic. Maxus Construction recently broke ground on the new medical facility featuring two urgent cares in one building, which will be located one block from Walmart next to Aldi on U.S. 31.

The clinic is set to open in October. The dual clinic will be home to KidsStreet Urgent Care, which will have a pediatrician on-site seven days a week to treat patients up to age 16. In addition, the clinic will house MainStreet Family Urgent Care, which will see patients older than 16 and provide occupational health services.

“We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve kids and their families in Pelham, Hoover, and Riverchase,” Chief Executive Officer Sam Eskildsen said. “We know that kids get sick or injured at the most inconvenient times. When everywhere else is closed for the night, we want to provide parents an alternative to a costly emergency room visit. Our hope is that offering patients the convenience of great care, after-hours with shorter wait times and same day appointments with a licensed pediatrician will help deliver some peace of mind.”

KidsStreet Urgent Care will be open from noon until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. Pediatricians at KidsStreet will be available to help with everyday illnesses and injuries as well as complete basic school and sports physicals. These walk-in clinics will not only provide treatment for issues like flu and strep throat but will also perform a number of diagnostic tests and minor procedures, such as stitches and foreign object removal.

Both clinics will feature multiple exam rooms, on-site lab testing and digital x-ray capabilities to care for sprains, strains, breaks and fractures. Additionally, MainStreet Family Urgent Care delivers a choice of occupational health services such as worker’s compensation management, pre-employment drug testing, and DOT physicals.

Medical director Dr. Timothy “Timbo” Taylor is excited about giving fellow parents another healthcare option when facing the unexpected.

“Not only will the state-of-the-art clinic in Pelham provide quality care that’s specialized for kids, but we also hope the convenient services and friendly staff will make the entire ordeal of being sick or injured a much more pleasant experience for both the parents and the child,” Taylor said.

In addition to a compassionate, pediatric-trained staff, KidsStreet offers a kid-friendly waiting room with mess-free coloring kits to prevent children from playing with germ-covered toys. KidsStreet is also the home to the company mascot, Dr. Wags, who can always be seen out at community events, schools and daycares.

Furthermore, several commonly prescribed medications are offered on-site, saving you a trip to the pharmacy. When doors open this October, KidsStreet Urgent Care will host a grand opening event for the surrounding community.
