U.S. 280 lanes to close for ALDOT work

NORTH SHELBY – Lanes on U.S. 280 will be closed beginning Wednesday, Feb. 7, for a coring operation, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Weather permitting, ALDOT will begin coring on U.S. 280 eastbound from Milepost 5.80 (Cahaba River bridge) to Milepost 8.85 (Hugh Daniel Drive).

Information provided about lane closures includes:

•At various times between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., one- and two-lane segments of U.S. 280 eastbound and westbound will be closed.

•At least one travel lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

•All travel lanes will be re-opened by 1 a.m.

Motorists can expect delays during these operations and are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
