Four Birmingham area students receive memorial scholarship.

Pelham students receive college funds

Published Sunday, July 20, 2008

— Elene Jambusarwalla and Sarah Sharman, both students at Pelham High School, were recently named recipients of the annual Adam Marcus Marmurek Scholarship.

Adam Marcus Marmurek was a 13-year-old student from Vestavia Hills who died in 1995 due to complications following a bone marrow transplant.

The scholarships were awarded to seniors planning to attend college in the fall from Hoover, Pelham and Vestavia. Each student received $1,000 toward his or her college education. They were selected based on grade point average, positive influence on peers, character and service.

The other two recipients are Diana Chen of Vestavia Hills High School and Steven Guy of Hoover High School. The Adam Marcus Marmurek Scholarship Fund has given out 42 scholarships to date.
