Published Tuesday, December 1, 2009
PELHAM The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested three people Nov. 26 who were in the process of preparing almost 4 pounds of marijuana for distribution.
Task Force agents arrested Aurthur James Allen, 40, Howard Ray Allen Gaines, 33, and Alisha Monique Jones, 27, at a motel on Alabama 119 in Pelham after agents became aware of the delivery of the marijuana to the motel. The marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were recovered at the time of arrest.
Allen of Selma, Gaines of Stockton, Calif., and Jones of Stockton, Calif., were arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana. All three remain in the Shelby County Jail and are being held on $1,500,000 bond each.
"I am very thankful for the tireless efforts of our investigators who spend countless hours pursuing those who intend to harm our community through the sale of illegal drugs," said Lt. Chris George, commander of the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force.
