Possible quarry may be harmful to health

Published Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Dear Editor,

If you see something you might want, it’s usually a good idea to talk to the guy who has one before you decide to buy.

In checking out the quarry sites nationwide, you will find similarities in all mining and quarry companies, such as:

They destroy communities. They cause nervous, health and sleep disorders.

People move away. Good luck selling your seriously depreciated property, though ... to whom?

They are fined constantly by authorities. It’s just a minor cost of doing business.

They poison ground water supplies with the deadly benzene run-off from the explosives.

They cause existing wells to dry up. They damage houses with the blasts. The damages are hard to prove to their insurance providers. Yes, their insurance provider. Your provider will probably deny the claim.

The Sky is Falling!!!! Wake up people, look at surrounding towns like Calera and Helena who have prospered and have numerous subdivisions within 3/4 of a mile from a quarry and love that their towns are growing and property values rising and the benifits that have come from it. What may I ask is the poster of doom offering to bring to the poor town of Vincent that help the economy and bring JOBS!!!
