Local students honored for academic achievement

A Tennessee-based Christian university recently honored four Shelby County students for their academic achievements during the past semester.
Union University, in Jackson, Tenn., named Alabaster resident Ashley Lynn Blankenship to the school’s president’s list, which includes full-time students who achieve a 4.0 semester grade point average.
Blankenship was one of 268 students named to the list.
The university also named Alabaster resident Laura Sprouse, Pelham resident Rachel Jacks and Birmingham resident Grant Luke to its dean’s list, which includes full-time students who achieve a 3.5 or higher semester grade point average.
The trio of dean’s list students were among 421 other students named to the list. More than 4,000 students are enrolled at the university.
