Arrest made in Bryant Bank robbery

— A 66-year-old Calera man was arrested Thursday and charged with robbing the Bryant Bank on U.S. 280 earlier this month.

U.S. Marshals and Hoover Police arrested Vernon Lacey Riley Jr. at his home Thursday afternoon. He is also a suspect in other bank robberies across Alabama, authorities said.

Riley faces charges of robbery and his currently being held in the Shelby County Jail on $250,000 bond.

The Bryant Bank at 5319 Highway 280 was robbed June 9, 2009 at 1:25 p.m.
