Purse snatcher caught

The north Chilton County man believed to be involved in a string of purse robberies targeting older women in Helena, Calera and Montevallo on Friday has been arrested.

David Paul Warren, 32, who faces robbery and assault charges, was apprehended while driving along Highway 52 in Helena Friday night, according to authorties. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $116,000.

Warren's alleged purse snatching spree began when a woman was robbed at Lucky's in Montevallo at 10 a.m. Friday. The victim suffered injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

A second woman was robbed in the Helena Winn-Dixie parking lot at 11 a.m. The victim suffered injuries when Warren allegedly threw her to the ground. Warren is also believed to have assaulted a store employee.

A third woman was robbed at the Calera Wal-mart around noon. She too suffered injuries.
