Miss Fountain City Jessica Brookshire enjoys an ornament swap and shares her platform for Miss Alabama with guests at Kathy Plemons’ home in Pelham.

Sharing holiday, personal passion

Published Thursday, January 7, 2010

The annual Christmas ornament swap held at the home of Kathy Plemons in Pelham took a different approach this year. Guests were welcomed into the beautifully decorated home to share Christmas treats and friendship.

As a part of this traditional get-together of friends, Miss Jessica Brookshire, 2010 Miss Fountain City, was asked to speak to the group.

Brookshire shared with the group her personal platform – K.A.R.M.A. (Kids Against Ridicule, Meanness and Aggression), which is a campaign to end bullying in Alabama.

In the spirit of the season, she encouraged guests to consider making donations to Children’s Miracle Network as well as The Megan Meier Foundation, a national organization dedicated to end bullying in schools.

Miss Brookshire will represent the Prattville area in the Miss Alabama Pageant to be held at Samford University in June.
